Import Tokens into Benji Pays

Import tokens
After your token migration is complete, your customers’ saved payment details appear in Benji Pays as tokens in your Benji Payments gateway. Each token still needs to be attached to the right customer. This article shows you how to match each token to its customer and add it as a payment profile.
Each token has an ID in the format storeID:tokenID. The store ID comes from your Benji Payments gateway. The token ID, the part after the store ID, is the ID your previous payment processor used for that saved card or bank account. Each processor creates this ID differently, so it might not match anything in your accounting system. Use the token ID to find the right customer for each token.
Before you begin
- Your token migration into your Benji Payments gateway is complete. Benji Pays support lets you know when your tokens arrive.
- You have a list from your previous payment processor that links each token ID to a customer name.
- Your customers from your accounting system are synced into Benji Pays.
Get your token ID list
To match tokens, you need a list that shows which token ID belongs to which customer. Your previous payment processor uses these IDs in its own system, so this list usually comes from them.
- Log in to your previous payment processor’s dashboard.
- Find your customer list, or the list of saved cards and payment profiles.
- Export it as a CSV file. Make sure it includes the token ID and the customer or company name.
- If you can’t export this list yourself, ask your previous payment processor for a list of token IDs with the customer name for each one.
Every processor lays this out differently, and the column name for the token ID varies. If you are not sure which column to use, compare it to the part after the store ID on a token in Benji Pays.
Attach each token to a customer
Add one customer at a time. Work down your CSV in order so you attach every token.
- In Benji Pays, go to Payment Profiles > Payment Profiles.
- Click Add Profile > Benji Payments.
- Select the accounting customer. This is the same customer as the name on your CSV.
- Select Choose existing payment method.
- Open the dropdown below it and search for the token ID from your CSV. The result is this customer’s token.
- Click Save. The payment method is now a payment profile on that customer.
- Repeat these steps for every token from your migration.
Troubleshooting
If a token ID does not show in the dropdown, or you cannot find a customer in Benji Pays, contact Benji Pays support. Include the customer name and the token ID.
Some payment profiles might have issues after a migration. For example, a card might have expired or might not have come across. If that happens, ask that customer to update their payment details.
Our team will help you attach the missing tokens.
