Move your saved cards to Benji Payments

When you switch to Benji Payments, you can bring your customers’ saved credit cards and bank account details with you. Most of your customers will not need to enter their payment details again.

This move is called a token migration. You start it with one email to your current payment processor. Benji Pays coordinates the transfer and keeps you updated.

How it works

  1. You email your current payment processor to ask for the transfer, with Benji Pays support on cc.
  2. Your processor prepares a secure, encrypted file of your saved payment details and sends it to Adyen, the payment provider behind Benji Payments.
  3. Benji Pays works with Adyen to bring them into your Benji Payments account.
  4. When they arrive in Benji Pays, you match them to your accounting customers. We send you instructions for this step.

There are a few steps and it takes some time. Benji Pays keeps you updated the whole way.

Send your request

  1. Copy the request template below.
  2. Replace the text in square brackets with your processor’s name, your name and your company name.
  3. Send the email to your current payment processor from your own email account. The request needs to come from you because the account is in your name.
  4. Add support@benjipays.com as a cc.
IMPORTANT Always cc support@benjipays.com on every email about the transfer, including replies. This is how our team follows the request, answers your processor’s questions and coordinates the transfer for you. Without it, we cannot see where things stand.
Leaving Stripe? Stripe takes this request through its own contact form, not by email. Follow the steps in Migrating Credit Card Payment Profiles from Stripe, and still include support@benjipays.com as a contact.

Request template

Copy this message into your email and fill in the text in square brackets.

Hello [Current processor name],

We are moving our payment processing to Benji Payments. Please export all of our customers’ stored payment details, including credit cards and bank account details, from our account to Benji Payments.

Adyen is the payment service provider (PSP) behind Benji Payments. You can find Adyen’s Attestation of Compliance (AOC) and the PGP public key for encrypting the file here:
https://docs.adyen.com/development-resources/pci-dss-compliance-guide/adyen-aoc/

The technical contact for this migration is support@adyen.com.

Benji Pays is coordinating this transfer for us. Please cc support@benjipays.com on all communication about it.

Please confirm you have received this request and let us know the next steps.

Thank you,

[Company name]

The two Adyen links let your processor confirm that Adyen meets card security standards and send your cards securely.

While your cards transfer

Your processor passes your request to its migration team. That team contacts Benji Pays, and we take it from there. We coordinate the transfer with your processor and Adyen, and we let you know when your cards arrive.

Migration requests can take a while to move through a processor’s queue, and they move fastest when you stay involved. A few things help:

  • Send your request as soon as you decide to switch.
  • If you have not heard back after a few business days, follow up. The request comes from you as the account holder, so a polite follow-up from you carries the most weight.
  • Answer any questions from your processor quickly, with Benji Pays support still on cc.
  • Keep following up until your processor confirms the file has been sent.

Match cards to your customers

When the migration is done and your payment details are in Benji Pays, you are responsible for matching each one to the right accounting customer. We send you instructions for this step.

A CSV file that links the IDs from the transfer to your customers makes this step faster. If you can get one ready, it helps. This file looks different at every company, so do not worry about the format. Benji Pays works it out with you.

Cards that need attention

Some payment profiles might have issues after the transfer. For example, a card might have expired, or a card or bank account might not have come across.

We might not know ahead of time which cards are affected. If a payment fails, or you notice a card missing while you match cards to customers, ask that customer to update their payment details. Contact Benji Pays support if you have questions.

Troubleshooting

If you are not sure where to send your request, or you have not heard back from your processor, contact Benji Pays support.
