Import Stripe tokens

After your Stripe token transfer is complete, your customers’ saved cards appear in Benji Pays as tokens in your Benji Payments gateway. Each token still needs to be attached to the right customer. This article shows you how to match each token to its customer and add it as a payment profile.

Each token uses an ID made of your Benji Payments store ID and the Stripe customer ID, in the format storeID:customerID. Use the Stripe customer ID to find the right customer for each token.

IMPORTANT Attach each token to the customer it belongs to. A token attached to the wrong customer charges the wrong card.

Before you begin

  • Your Stripe token transfer into your Benji Payments gateway is complete. To start a transfer, see Migrating Credit Card Payment Profiles from Stripe.
  • You can log in to your Stripe dashboard.
  • Your customers from your accounting system are synced into Benji Pays.

Get your Stripe customer list

Your Stripe customer list shows which Stripe customer ID belongs to each company.

  1. Log in to your Stripe dashboard and go to Customers.
  2. At the top right of the customer table, click the table settings button. The button shows a sliders icon.
  3. Make sure the Customer and ID columns are both turned on. Customer is the company name you see in Benji Pays. ID is the Stripe customer ID.
  4. Optional: click the export button to download the list. The button shows an arrow pointing out of a box, next to the reports button and Add customer.

Attach each token to a customer

Add one customer at a time. Work down your Stripe list or export in order so you attach every token.

  1. In Benji Pays, go to Payment Profiles > Payment Profiles.
  2. Click Add Profile > Benji Payments.
  3. Select the accounting customer. This is the same company as the Customer on your Stripe list.
  4. Select Choose existing payment method.
  5. Open the dropdown below it and search for the Stripe customer ID. The result is this customer’s token.
  6. Click Save. The card is now a payment profile on that customer.
  7. Repeat these steps for every token that came over from Stripe.
IMPORTANT Search the dropdown by the Stripe customer ID, not the company name. The customer ID is the only part of the token that ties it to a Stripe customer.

Troubleshooting

If a Stripe customer ID does not show in the dropdown, or you cannot find a company in Benji Pays, contact Benji Pays support. Include the company name and the Stripe customer ID.
