Answers for merchants moving Canadian EFT or US ACH processing from Bambora to Benji Payments

Benji Pays is moving future Canadian EFT and US ACH processing from Bambora to Benji Payments. Benji Pays will manage the technical setup and transfer eligible saved bank profiles. Your existing EFT and ACH pre-authorized debit agreements remain stored in Benji Pays, so you do not need to recreate or upload them for this transition.

Important for US ACH: Customers whose bank accounts use debit-block or debit-filter controls may need to whitelist Benji Payments ACH Company ID 8263863381 before their first payment after cutover.

At a glance

  • You will continue using Benji Pays for saved payment profiles, Auto Processing, the customer portal, and transaction reporting.
  • Eligible Canadian EFT and US ACH bank profiles will be transferred to Benji Payments and remain linked to the same customers.
  • Existing EFT and ACH PAD agreements remain stored in Benji Pays; no new signatures are required.
  • Future settlements, processing fees, and payouts will follow the Benji Payments workflow.

Getting ready

What is changing?

The payment gateway used for future Canadian EFT and US ACH transactions is changing from Bambora to Benji Payments. You will continue using Benji Pays for saved payment profiles, Auto Processing, the customer portal, and transaction reporting.

Why is Benji Pays switching away from Bambora?

Bambora was acquired by Shift4, and Shift4 intends to sunset the Bambora gateway in the future. Benji Pays is moving merchants to Benji Payments before that happens so EFT and ACH processing can continue without a last-minute disruption and be supported directly within Benji Pays.

Will my credit card processing be affected?

No. This transition covers only EFT or ACH payments currently processed through Bambora. If you use another provider for credit cards, that gateway and your existing credit card functionality will not be changed as part of this transition.

Do I need a Benji Payments merchant account?

Yes. If you have not already done so, you must complete the Benji Payments application so your merchant account can be approved and configured. After approval, Benji Pays will handle the gateway setup and confirm your payment methods, payout bank account, currencies, and accounting mappings.

What do I need to do before the migration?

Complete the Benji Payments application if it is still outstanding, then keep your Bambora account and gateway active until Benji Pays confirms that the cutover is complete. You do not need to recreate, upload, or ask customers to re-sign existing EFT or ACH pre-authorized debit agreements; those agreements are already stored in Benji Pays.

Does the transition happen overnight?

No. The transition is completed in stages: merchant-account approval, gateway configuration, saved-profile migration and validation, and a coordinated cutover. Timing depends on your account and the number of saved profiles. You can continue using Bambora until Benji Pays confirms your cutover date and that the migration is complete.

Will the migration charge my customers?

No. Transferring a saved bank profile prepares it for future use in Benji Payments. The migration itself does not submit a payment or debit a customer’s bank account.

Saved bank profiles

Will my customers need to enter their bank information again?

Usually not. Benji Pays will transfer eligible saved bank profiles and keep them linked to the appropriate customers. A customer will need to provide bank information again only if a profile cannot be safely matched or validated; Benji Pays will contact you if that occurs.

Do I need to collect new PAD agreements?

No. Your existing EFT and ACH pre-authorized debit (PAD) agreements are already stored in Benji Pays and remain in place. You do not need to collect new signatures, upload documents, or recreate agreements as part of this transition.

Which profiles can be migrated?

The migration covers eligible saved Canadian EFT and US ACH bank profiles associated with your company that can be matched to a customer in Benji Pays.

What profile settings are retained?

For successfully migrated profiles, Benji Pays preserves the customer link and applicable profile settings, including whether the profile is enabled and selected for Auto Processing. Existing EFT and ACH pre-authorized debit agreements remain stored in Benji Pays. Bambora processor references are replaced with Benji Payments references.

What happens if a profile cannot be matched?

Benji Pays will review the profile and contact you if clarification is required. If no usable profile exists or the profile cannot be safely matched, the customer may need to provide updated bank information.

What happens if bank information is incomplete or does not pass validation?

The profile will be held for review rather than created automatically. Benji Pays will investigate and contact you only if clarification or updated bank details are required.

What if a Benji Payments bank profile already exists for the customer?

The migration includes duplicate protection. It will not create another bank profile for the same customer and selected Benji Payments gateway when a matching destination profile already exists.

How is bank information protected during the migration?

Full account and routing details are handled through a restricted server-side process. They are not displayed in the migration review screen. Only limited information, such as the last four digits, is used when Support needs to confirm a match.

ACH debit blocks for US customers

Which customers need to whitelist Benji Payments?

Only US customers whose bank account uses an ACH debit block or ACH filter need to take action. Before their first ACH payment through Benji Payments, they should authorize the Benji Payments ACH Company ID with their bank. Customers without an ACH debit block or filter do not need to whitelist an ID.

Which ACH Company ID should customers whitelist?

Customers should whitelist Benji Payments ACH Company ID 8263863381. This is different from Bambora’s ACH Company ID, so customers who previously approved Bambora must also add the Benji Payments ID for payments submitted after cutover.

How should customers whitelist the ID?

Bank procedures vary. Customers can usually sign in to online banking, open the ACH Filter or ACH Debit Block settings, add 8263863381 as an authorized company ID or ACH originator, and save the change. If the option is unavailable, they should contact their bank’s treasury or cash management department for help.

What happens if the ID is not whitelisted?

For an account with a debit block or filter, the ACH payment may be rejected or returned if the Benji Payments ID has not been approved. This can delay payment collection and reconciliation, so affected customers should complete whitelisting before their first ACH payment through Benji Payments.

Payments, payouts, and accounting

Will Auto Processing continue to use the migrated profile?

A successfully migrated profile retains its applicable enabled and Auto Processing settings. Benji Pays will coordinate the cutover so future automatic and manual payments use the intended gateway. Do not disable Bambora early or submit the same payment through both gateways.

What happens to previous Bambora transactions?

The migration creates replacement saved payment profiles for future use. It does not recreate or reprocess previous Bambora transactions. Historical transactions remain part of your reporting and reconciliation records.

What happens to Bambora payments that are still in progress?

Queued, submitted, or unsettled Bambora transactions are separate from the saved-profile migration. Benji Pays will coordinate the cutover with you so in-progress transactions can be addressed before the Bambora workflow is retired.

How will settlements and payouts change?

Bambora will continue to settle transactions submitted through the Bambora gateway. After cutover, transactions submitted through Benji Payments will settle to your Benji Payments balance and be paid to your linked bank account according to your configured payout schedule.

Will the accounting workflow change?

The underlying gateway and settlement entries will change, but Benji Pays will configure the required accounting mappings as part of the transition. Payments, processing fees, and settlement transfers will use the accounts configured for your Benji Payments gateway.

Can I cancel an EFT or ACH payment after cutover?

Cancellation options depend on the payment status and the Benji Payments workflow. Do not assume the same cancellation window used for a queued Bambora transaction applies. If a bank debit was submitted in error, review its status and contact Benji Pays Support immediately.

Can a payment be returned after it appears successful?

Yes. ACH and EFT payments can be returned, reversed, or disputed after they first appear successful and, in some cases, after a payout has been received. The applicable pre-authorized debit agreement remains stored in Benji Pays. Monitor settlement reporting and complete any required customer or accounting follow-up when a return occurs.

Will my processing fees change?

Benji Pays intends to match your existing Bambora EFT or ACH transaction pricing. If an exception applies, we will review it with you before cutover. Once the transition is complete and your Bambora account is cancelled, you will also no longer pay Bambora’s separate monthly gateway fees.

Completing the transition

How will I know the migration is complete?

Benji Pays will contact you when the saved-profile migration and gateway checks are complete and confirm when future EFT or ACH payments should use Benji Payments. Keep Bambora active until you receive that confirmation and any in-progress transactions have been addressed.

What should I check after migration?

Follow the completion instructions from Benji Pays, review any exceptions, and confirm that your first Benji Payments transaction and payout appear correctly. Benji Pays will let you know when the Bambora workflow can be retired and when you can cancel your Bambora account.

Who should I contact if I have questions?

Contact Benji Pays Support if a profile is missing, a payment was submitted in error, settlement does not match your records, or you need help with gateway and accounting settings. Include the customer name and transaction or invoice reference, but do not send full bank account details by email.
