QuickBooks Web Connector: Installation Support Limitations
Benji Pays offers integration with both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop. In order to enable this connection for QuickBooks Desktop users, a tool called the QuickBooks Web Connector (QWC) must be installed on the same computer where QuickBooks Desktop is installed.
While we support our integration with QuickBooks Desktop, Benji Pays does not provide direct support for installing or maintaining the QuickBooks Web Connector. This article explains why, and what assistance we can offer instead.
❓ What is the QuickBooks Web Connector?
The QuickBooks Web Connector is a Microsoft Windows application developed by Intuit. It enables desktop software like QuickBooks Desktop to communicate with cloud-based applications such as Benji Pays.
To complete the integration, the Web Connector must be:
Installed on the same machine as QuickBooks Desktop
Configured using a
.QWC
file provided by Benji PaysScheduled or manually triggered to sync data between QuickBooks and Benji Pays
? Why We Don’t Support Installing or Maintaining the Web Connector
There are a few key reasons we’re unable to provide direct support for this part of the setup:
1. It Runs in Your Local Computing Environment
Unlike cloud-based tools, the Web Connector operates on your local desktop or server. Your environment may have unique settings — such as firewalls, user permissions, network rules, or antivirus software — which are not visible or accessible to our team.
2. Security and Privacy Boundaries
Supporting software installed on your local machines would require us to request system access, which we will not do. For your security and privacy, Benji Pays does not interact directly with your computers or networks.
3. It’s Not Our Software
The Web Connector is maintained by Intuit, not Benji Pays. If issues arise with the installation or functionality of the Web Connector itself, those must be addressed through Intuit’s support or your internal IT provider.
4. Focus on What We Can Control
Benji Pays is a cloud-based platform. Our support team focuses on ensuring our part of the integration works as expected — once the Web Connector is installed and communicating properly.
