If you see customer names with a colon, you will need to go to the main customers page, and then search in the table, not in the blue side menu. The blue side menu only searches and shows parent customers to keep the list clean. The search in the table searches sub customer's also.
For example: This customer has an account as
Doe, John:10 Haven Gate, Ottawa (Parent company)
as well as Doe, John
Example: I was searching for a payment profile under John Doe but it was actually entered under John Doe: Haven Gate, Ottawa
